DIRECTOR, PLANT ENGINEERING Wayne UNC Health Care Goldsboro, North Carolina Day Shift: Mon. – Fri.
The professional we select for this important role will direct and manage the plant operations, distribution of utilities, maintenance and repair of Wayne UNC Health Care buildings, grounds, and systems. This individual will implement policies, procedures, and programs related to the efficient operation and maintenance of our system’s central energy plant, utility systems, life safety systems, leased/owned/managed real estate, and grounds repair. Additional responsibilities include:
Directing and managing the operation, maintenance, repair and replacement of industrial electrical, mechanical, plumbing, vertical/horizontal transport, access control, and other facility systems, including central boiler and chilled water distribution systems and associated utility support systems.
Implementing processes to ensure that preventive maintenance activities and repairs are managed in a timely manner and in compliance with applicable regulations including The Joint Commission, NFPA, NCDHSR, and CMS.
Ensuring that the facilities are always survey-ready, and that team members project a professional and technically adept impression to one another and the public.
Acting as co-chair and utilities section lead on the safety committee.
Monitoring all sub-contractor performance and completion of tasks relating to repairs, equipment or systems.
Preparing requests for proposals (RFPs), scope of services, and contracts.
Verifying and processing invoices/purchase orders.
Providing analysis and input into long-range planning decisions.
Developing and implementing policies, procedures, and plans for management of the facility vehicles and transportation equipment.
Performing management oversight of the computerized maintenance management system by running appropriate reports.
Three or more years of progressively responsible experience managing plant operations
Bachelor’s degree in an engineering field, architecture, or facilities management OR bachelor’s degree in another related field with a technical degree/diploma in electrical or mechanical engineering
Certified Healthcare Facility Manager (CHFM) or certification within two years of hire
Strong customer focus and communication/interpersonal skills, including relationship-building and networking
Excellent leadership and organizational skills to direct multiple activities concurrently
Exceptional accountability, work ethic, and follow-through
Demonstrated business acumen, including financial, operational, and technical savvy in driving and promoting quality and cost-effective patient care
Proficiency with Microsoft Office and ability to learn other software
Extensive knowledge of Joint Commission, NFPA, EPA, and OSHA requirements and standards.
Strong knowledge of automated building systems and computerized maintenance management systems
