UPMC Passavant, together with UPMC St. Margaret, seek a full time Director of Patient Safety for their hospital campuses. While primarily based at UPMC Passavant in McCandless Township, just outside Pittsburgh, PA, the Director also has oversight and responsibility for patient safety at Passavan't sister campus in nearby Cranberry Township, and UPMC St. Margaret in nearby Aspinwall.
The Director of Patient Safety has the responsibility, accountability and direction for our patient safety programs, including the implementation of the Patient Safety Plan, and as such provides the leadership in supporting and developing a culture of safety and in identifying opportunities and initiatives to enhance patient safety at our hospitals.
As Director, you will develop operational plans that build upon the present patient safety programs. An integral component in implementing this visionary approach is to proactively address patient safety issues utilizing data, information from Patient Safety Committee, and other reports to analyze issues. Through collaboration and partnerships, you will develop programs and services that produce measurable improvements in processes and practices that affect patient safety and ultimately result in a decrease of incidents, costs and severity levels of any hospital incidents.
Masters degree required.
Undergraduate degree must be in a healthcare field.
Five years of healthcare management experience.
Additional training in patient safety is desirable.
A clinical nursing background in critical care medicine is helpful.
Advanced interpersonal communication skills to provide effective collaboration and consultation.
Ability to organize and define problems, develop strategies, and carry out action plans.
Ability to analyze data and formulate conclusions.
Requires solid working knowledge of MS Office Suite (Word, Access, Excel, Power Point).
Ability to communicate both verbally and in writing with all levels of the organization.
Ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects/tasks simultaneously.
