MCIC, a specialty insurance company that provides medical professional and general liability coverage to prestigious academic medical centers, is searching for a physician executive to serve as Vice President & Chief Quality Officer. This physician leader will be responsible for identifying, inspiring, and driving quality, performance improvement, and risk reduction solutions across the MCIC subscriber network which includes Columbia University College of Physicians & Surgeons, The Johns Hopkins Hospital, The Johns Hopkins University, New York Presbyterian Hospital, University of Rochester Medical Center, Weill Cornell Medical College, Yale New Haven Health, and Yale University School of Medicine.
Based in the New York City office, the Chief Quality Officer will report directly to the Chief Medical Officer and be a vital member of the MCIC executive leadership team. Driven by a PASSION for quality & patient safety, and armed with formal training in patient safety/quality improvement, the ideal candidate will have graduated from a well-recognized academic program and be board certified in a medical specialty.
With an ability to influence physician leaders and institutional stakeholders, this individual will act in the unique role of providing leadership for identifying, developing, and implementing impactful programs across a network of the most prestigious academic medical centers in the world.
Board certified MD
Three to five + years of relevant patient safety/quality improvement experience
Training in Patient Safety/Quality from a recognized fellowship program strongly desired
Preferred experience working within an Academic Medical Center(s)
Broad knowledge of clinical medicine, best practices, and quality processes essential
Medical malpractice/risk management experience a plus
Track record of designing, planning, and executing impactful quality and safety programs
Truly PASSIONATE about patient safety and quality healthcare
Innovative, analytical and personable
Well respected within the medical and quality communities
Finely tuned people skills; ability to influence and persuade
