QUALITY DIRECTOR Northwestern Medicine DeKalb, Illinois
In collaboration with the CMO, the professional we select will lead, plan, direct, and coordinate the quality and patient safety programs within this operating unit. The scope of responsibility includes all patient care and supporting functions, encompassing all practitioners, clinicians and others delivering or supporting patient care, as well as those privileged through the medical staff, trainees, students, employees, and volunteers. In collaboration with NM system leaders, this individual will develop, implement, manage, and achieve goals set forth in the annual quality and patient safety plan, infection-prevention risk assessment and plan, and other supporting plans. Additional responsibilities will include:
Collaborating in the advancement of systems functions, including risk-management, infection-prevention, and accreditation/policy-management activities.
Managing and overseeing medical staff OPPE, FPPE, peer review program, and ensuring consistent application across sites and disciplines.
Developing reports, materials, and support for the Board of Governors at the local site and system related to quality goals, progress, and challenges.
Leading or collaborating in the advancement of the Patient Family Advisory Council and patient-engagement initiatives.
Monitoring internal and external trends to identify priorities.
Setting/achieving appropriate goals for quality, patient safety, and innovation.
Implementing, facilitating, and advancing the work of quality committees and plans.
Assuring compliance with clinical accreditation, certification, and licensure standards.
Recruiting, developing, teaching/orienting/training staff and managing HR and financial resources.
Bachelor's degree in a relevant field, such as RN, RPh, health administration, or public health.
Master's degree in a relevant field, or equivalent experience and demonstrated ability.
Three or more years of experience leading clinical quality and patient safety, including evidence of effective improvement initiatives.
Leadership, personnel-management, and change-management skills.
Relevant statistics, quantitative, and analytic skills.
A high level of energy and enthusiasm, flexibility/adaptability, and ability to work well with a diverse group of healthcare professionals within a matrix environment.
Effective written/verbal communication, problem-solving and multitasking skills.
Five or more years of relevant experience.
Evidence of publishable work.
CPHQ, CPPS, or similar certification or evidence of professional commitment.
