CHKD seeks a passionate and experienced Director of Patient Care Services for a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to work collaboratively with the director of our mental health service line and our medical director for mental health to design a transformational mental health program for children, adolescents, and their families. This program will include the addition of a $60 million pediatric mental health facility that will offer a full continuum of mental health services for children, teens, and their families, throughout the Hampton Roads region and beyond. The Director of Patient Care Services will have responsibility for program development, daily planning, work scheduling, and managing designated service personnel, along with coordinating and directing the workflow and functions of the 48-bed acute inpatient mental health unit which will be part of this new facility, in addition to a 12 bed acute impatient mental health unit in the main hospital.
CHKD is the only freestanding children’s hospital in the Commonwealth of Virginia and the only health system to build a freestanding pediatric mental health facility in our community. Every CHKD location, and each talented member of our team, is devoted to providing the highest quality pediatric care to the children we serve. CHKD is more than a hospital; we are a growing health system equipped to handle all aspects of children’s health and wellness.
Join our dedicated and enthusiastic team and help us create a mental health program based on innovation, accessibility, and hope. Together we will make a difference in the lives of our children.
CHKD is located in a family-centered community. At CHKD, we know that people who work hard often play hard, too. Norfolk is located in the coastal region of southeastern Virginia, also known as Hampton Roads, where unlimited opportunities for recreation, travel, and cultural activities can be found.
The region's temperate climate is ideal for sports and outdoor activities. Winters are mild. The spring and fall seasons are extremely pleasant, and summer temperatures are usually in the upper 80s. For snow skiing and mountain hiking, the foothills of Virginia and the Blue Ridge Mountains are within a few hours' drive.
The Atlantic Ocean and Chesapeake Bay provide the boundaries for the Hampton Roads region, where opportunities for swimming, diving, fishing, and boating abound on the many rivers, lakes, and streams, as well as along miles of public beaches. Some of the best sport fishing in the country can be found here and on the Outer Banks of North Carolina, which is within a two-hour drive.
Additional outdoor entertainment includes camping, biking, and hiking at Seashore State Park; exploring the Great Dismal Swamp National Wildlife Preserve; and visiting Busch Gardens and Water Country in Williamsburg - two of the country's most popular amusement parks.
