Good Shepherd Hospice will be opening a new inpatient hospice unit at the very beautiful and conveniently located Mercy Medical Center in Rockville Centre. This unit will accommodate terminally ill patients in Nassau and Western Suffolk Counties who require an acute level of care in a fully functioning inpatient hospice unit—individuals whose symptoms are not able to be managed in the home setting. Responsibilities will include:
Assigning clinical personnel to care for patients and their families
Assuring the delivery of care is in accordance with Hospice regulations
Serving as a resource for clinical staff and managing the daily operations of a 24-hour unit
Assessing the needs of terminally ill patients and their families
Symptom control planning
Coordinating the resources and personnel involved in a comprehensive interdisciplinary team approach to care
NYS Registered Nurse (RN) License
BSN and Master’s degree in healthcare or Management
Prior experience as a Nurse Manager of an acute care unit
3+ years bedside nursing in acute care with 2+ years managerial experience
Strong proficiency in Electronic Medical Records
Working knowledge of Hospice concepts, philosophy, policies and procedures
