Chief Operating Officer
Northern California Medical Associates
Northern California Medical Associates (NCMA), one of the most comprehensive and cost-effective health care groups in the nation, has been serving individuals and families since 1975. The organization has successfully created a model featuring an independent, multi-specialist group practice offering a broad range of medical and surgical services, diagnostic testing and preventive programs. A unique opportunity has surfaced at NCMA for a Chief Operating Officer (COO), who will be responsible for integrating the strategic plan of NCMA with efficient and productive operations, while providing management oversight for the development of high quality, cost-effective and integrated clinical programs within the practice. The management portfolio held by the selected candidate is notably diverse, with corresponding broad organizational implications and complexity, characterized by a substantial scope of responsibility. Organizationally, the COO will oversee the Cardiovascular Services Director, Regional Operations Director, and the Human Resources Director, and will work collaboratively with the practice leadership to develop and implement well-balanced clinical, academic, and research programs designed to ensure the operational and strategic success of NCMA. The role carries responsibility for processes and systems, program development, quality, fiscal management, compliance and clinical management measures, physician relationships, outreach strategies, work culture enhancement and internal communication, and consensus-building. The COO will ensure that NCMA’s resources are focused enterprise-wide while optimally satisfying the health care needs of those we serve. The COO will exercise management responsibility over the practice ensuring efficient services that are designed to meet the needs of patients, physicians, the public and staff either directly, or through delegation of responsibility to others. Additionally, The COO is expected to act in the absence of the Chief Executive Officer. The role requires significant leadership skill and ability, and will be accountable for the overall success of operations of the clinic and will lead and oversee the development of division operating and strategic plans.
