TITLE: Curriculum Development Specialist
DEPARTMENT: Curriculum Development
REPORTS TO: Vice President of Curriculum Development
CLASSIFICATION: Full-time, Exempt
PRIMARY PURPOSE OF POSITION
Serves as the subject matter expert in long-term care nursing leadership and management, survey regulations, policy interpretation, nursing home administration, and other subject matter as needed by the Association. The position focuses primarily on developing new content for member programs. Additionally, this position includes reviewing, editing, and writing articles, website content, and educational materials to support nursing leadership in long-term care. Assists in the development of nursing leadership content for the Associations educational programs and works collaboratively with the VP of Curriculum Development and the VP of Professional Development to oversee quality assurance and quality improvement of subject matter related to nursing leadership programs.
Decision-making: All decisions made in this position are of a high level and impact the future success of the Association. Decisions include recommendations that affect the Association’s operating expenses and budget, are analytical and based upon experience in the field and/or derived from evidence-based research. This position is charged with identifying member needs and business opportunities in light of subject matter expertise. The position also involves working with the executive team to determine strategies for implementation and collaboratively making recommendations on the organizations future course of action.
Complexity: This position requires highly experienced analysis and judgment. Experienced judgment is needed in determining/predicting future trends and recommending changes to the Association’s content to incorporate this analysis. Experience in long-term care nursing is essential. Problem-solving includes recommending outcomes that affect policy, operations, staffing, expenses and revenues.
Authority: This position holds authority over the Nursing Leadership programs as assigned, and is subject to supervision by the Vice President of Curriculum Development.

New Product Development - Serves as a subject matter expert and writer for new product development related to nursing leadership and associated topics. Uses expertise to develop new products by building on-line curriculum, manuals, and power point from the beginning to launch of new products.
Maintaining Current Products & Curriculum – Reviews the DNS-CT, QAPI and other certification content integrity and accuracy. Reviews and maintains certification manuals, power points and exam questions as assigned. Provides overall quality assurance of nursing leadership content by responding to learner and faculty quality concerns as needed
Website Content - Provides content review, edits, monitoring and updates for the Association’s website on a continuous basis to assure the presence of the most accurate and up-to-date information on long-term care nursing leadership, survey regulation, policy and other relevant topics.
LTC Leader, Navigator & Other Publications - Assists in the development of an annual editorial calendar for publications, including bi-weekly newsletters, determining timely content/topics, authors and deadlines. Writes articles for outside publications as assigned.
Online Communities - Monitors AANAC online nursing leadership community content. Serves as subject matter expert to answer member questions when possible. Analyzes and brings forward trends/business intelligence that emerges from member conversations. Answers member questions that fall into his/her areas of expertise but are not appropriate for members to post to the online community.
Public Speaking & Presentations - Conducts Webinars and Certification Workshops as assigned.
Other Essential Duties:
·Recognizes needs and trends that emerge from experience and/or data.
·Develops and communicates necessary curriculum changes to Education Department for implementation as needed.
·Maintains ANCC and NAB certification information as related to subject matter.
·Collaborates with the volunteer task forces that review conference proposals for consideration for educational events and assists with final selection of content and speakers.
·Serves on Technical Expert Panels as assigned.
·Attends staff meetings.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE & SKILLS
Expert written and verbal communication skills.
Knowledge of the management and delivery of healthcare services in long-term care and/or in healthcare regulatory and policy interpretation.
Working knowledge of nurse management and leadership in long-term care.
Knowledge of content and product development processes.
Strong ability to work in a collaborative environment and on cross-functional teams.
Strong organizational and project management skills.
Strong computer skills, with significant experience with PowerPoint, Word and Excel.
Occasional weekend work, as necessary
Position may be performed remotely, but must have the ability manage time and tasks, and to build solid working relationships with other staff members.
Involves some travel, but due to primary responsibility for writing and research is primarily performed in an office setting.

9+ years 10.00 hours per pay period 30 days per year
