The Director of Accreditation and Safety is responsible for the overall coordination of the accreditation and safety functions within the Quality Safety department. The Director of Accreditation and Safety will function as the expert with respect to regulations, accreditation standards and patient safety standards. In the role, the Director of Accreditation and Safety will coordinate organization-wide activities related to ensuring organizational compliance with the CMS Conditions of Participation and the Joint Commission Standards. In addition, the Director of Accreditation and Safety will function as an expert and be a resource with respect to best practice in the discipline of patient safety in order to prevent patient harm and to promote a culture of safety within AHMC. Works jointly with the Associate Vice President of Quality in overseeing the internal incident/event reporting systems/process. Collaborates with area region hospitals on accreditation and safety concerns.
1. BSN Degree preferred
2. Licensed NYS RN
3. A high level of interpersonal skills and professional poise to interact with Medical Staff, other department staff, and Management is required.
4. Assessment and goal setting skills, project/time management skills, and problem solving skills are required. 6. Knowledge of Department of Health, the Joint Commission, CMS, and OSHA regulations is preferred.
5. Good writing and presentation skills required.
6. Patient Safety education and presentation experience preferred.
