Reporting directly to Dr. Barrett Kitch, the Chief Medical Officer of Emerson Hospital, the VP will be in a key role as the organization continues to build up its strong reputation of quality and patient safety regionally. The VP will be responsible for all of Emerson Hospital's performance improvement activities, including quality, accreditation, patient safety, credentialing, infection control, and risk management. The VP will also oversee patient satisfaction and oversee the hospital-wide Patient Experience Program. The Vice President of Quality and Patient Safety will staff and/or administer various hospital councils and committees including the Board-level Quality Committee, Quality and Patient Safety Council, Professional Review Committee and Patient Care Assessment Committee and attends the Medical Executive Committee and the Credentials Committees. In addition to the committee responsibilities, the VP will leverage lean and other operation excellence methodologies to further Emerson Hospital's culture of safety and commitment to the patient experience to become a high-reliability organization. The VP should be viewed as an approachable strategic and visible leader, serving as both a mentor to their team while being willing to personally dive into the details of an organizational-wide initiative.
The ideal candidate will be a well-versed healthcare quality leader who is a strategic thinker, creative problem solver, and a professional of the highest integrity. The qualified candidate will need to a leader with at least 7 years of progressive quality and performance improvement leadership experience in a health care setting, preferably within a community hospital. She/he should have expansive demonstrated knowledge of contemporary quality and process improvement trends and practices with a familiarity of LEAN, Six Sigma, or other similar methodologies. A Master’s degree in nursing, medicine, healthcare administration, public health, or other related discipline is required. Clinical experience is required as well, preferably as a Registered Nurse.
