Responsible to work closely with leadership and providers to accurately track and report quality and performance metrics for the heart and vascular service line. Reports key metrics to establish registries and data bases such as (CMS, STS and ACC). Serves in a key role in assisting in the implementation of key performance improvement initiatives. Coordinates all activities with BMG and Benefis System Quality activities. Serves in a clinical role as appropriate and assigned.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Maintains familiarity with key performance metrics utilized to establish excellence in the Heart and Vascular service line, and reporting guidelines of national databases (e.g. Society of Thoracic Surgeons, American College of Cardiology - National Cardiovascular Data Registry, American College of Cardiology - ICD Registry) and national and / or industry initiatives (e.g. CMS).
Coordinates utilization / maintenance of registry software with Information Systems, the registry and other applicable parties.
Coordinates data collection from multiple data sources, including chart abstractions for identified patients, and as necessary, coordinates development of data collection reports with other key departments as appropriate.
Assures that data collection, entry and reporting is completed with accuracy and meets key deadlines.
Enters data into the appropriate registry and / or database and resolves questions regarding data inclusion or exclusion with either the physician or Registry vendor. Audits registries, periodically, for accuracy.
Provides education for all staff on registry requirements so they are familiar with criteria for patient inclusion or exclusion from a registry.
Analyzes internal data and registry reports for trends, concerns, opportunities etc. and provides reports and findings to identified key audiences.
Provides patient case information for and attends CVOR committee.
Identifies streamlining and process improvement opportunities in the data collection process.
Promotes use of registry information in quality improvement initiatives.
Maintains good working relations with hospital staff and providers.
Provides coverage as needed for Cardiovascular Services.
Demonstrates the ability to deal with pressure to meet deadlines, to be accurate, and to handle constantly changing situations.
Demonstrates the ability to deal with a variety of people, deal with stressful situations, and handle conflict.

Complies with Health and Safety Standards and Guidelines.
Graduate of an accredited school of nursing or accredited Radiologic Technology program or an accredited school of cardiovascular technology or Bachelor's degree in health administration required.
Two years experience in cardiac care, cardiac rehabilitation, administration; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Two years of data collection experience, preferred.
