INFECTION CONTROL PRACTITIONER

You know how to look beyond the obvious

You have a talent for seeing what others might not, which is the broader impact of infection control. You look beyond the details of a situation, capably assess the situation, and put forth alternative suggestions. We are looking for a top-notch infection preventionist, preferably an experienced licensed RN with this kind of awareness to help prevent, manage, and treat infectious diseases hospital-wide; to improve patient experience, operational processes, and better patient outcomes. This astute leader with strong analytical ability will have overall accountability for the surveillance, analysis, and reporting of infections; develop and implement policies and procedures to sustain our quality of care tradition, ensure compliance, and enhance life for our hospital and multicultural community.

Primarily, you will:

Develop goals, objectives and plans to ensure rigorous infection prevention and control in compliance with Hospital’s standards, and state, federal and other regulatory requirements
Implement a surveillance system to detect and continually monitor communicable disease
Conduct ongoing infection control orientation, educational and research activities

Ideally, you must possess:

Bachelor’s degree in nursing, public health, or related field; Master’s preferred
Minimum 2 years of demonstrated experience in epidemiology/infection prevention and control
Strong knowledge of NHSN surveillance definitions and reporting process
Current New York State RN license and BCLS certification
Certification in Infection Control is highly preferred, or achieve CIC certification within 2 years of employment
Working knowledge of statistics, microbiology, patient care practices, epidemiology, and occupational health preferred
Knowledge of regulatory and professional clinical guidelines preferred
Strong verbal, written, presentation and team facilitation skills along with PC proficiency, especially Excel
