The Royal is one of Canada’s foremost mental health care, teaching, and research hospitals and is home to The Royal Mental Health Centre, the Brockville Mental Health Centre, the University of Ottawa Institute of Mental Health Research, and the Royal Ottawa Foundation for Mental Health. The Royal has a rich history of caring for our community.  Established in 1910, the Lady Grey Hospital, as it was known at the time, initially focused on treatment of tuberculosis in Eastern Ontario. As tuberculosis became less prevalent, the organization began to transform and in 1961, was designated as a hospital for the care and treatment of emotional and psychiatric disorders.
