Position Announcement Utah Valley University is seeking an IRB Compliance Coordinator! Most of the day-to-day work in the Human Research Protections Office (HRPO) involves the University's Institutional Review Board (IRB) tasks. The Human Research Protections Coordinator will assist in facilitating both HRPP and IRB functions and operations. This includes supporting the Director of the Human Research Protections Office by providing front-line responses to questions and concerns from campus researchers; reviewing IRB protocols and amendments in a timely and thorough fashion; supporting HRPO outreach initiatives; supporting other members of the IRB; and assisting with regulatory, ethical, and compliance-based activities as needed.
Summary of Responsibilities
Complete required and recommended training regarding the protection of human participants in research. Utilize training, policies, regulations, procedures, best practices, and other relevant resources to thoroughly review requests for research exemption, protocols, modifications, waivers, and other protocol-based review actions delegated to this position.
Serve as a member of the Institutional Review Board for all actions requiring Full Board Review.
Advise faculty, staff, and students on regulatory and other relevant standards for the eventual review of research. Conduct your research and seek assistance where requirements or best practices are unclear.
Communicate, both orally and in writing, with campus researchers and other stakeholders regarding protocol reviews, OHRP policies, institutional policies, and federal regulatory frameworks that impact the review of research with human participants.
Represent the OHRP during outreach, education, or other functions designated by the director.
Support the OHRP's compliance efforts as designated by the Director.
Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Education: Bachelor's Degree or five years of experience within a research enterprise
Demonstrated ability to interpret regulatory frameworks and apply them to unique factual scenarios, i.e., strong analytical skills and problem-solving abilities
Excellent communication skills - written, verbal, and interpersonal
Ability to effectively multitask, meet deadlines, and provide timely responses
Excellent organizational skills
Advanced working knowledge of the English language
Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality and manage sensitive topics

Hybrid/Remote Work Eligible: During remote work, must maintain a laptop that can run cloud-based software such as Microsoft Teams, AxiomMentor/Sitero, Sharepoint, OneDrive, and Outlook. Must maintain an Internet connection capable of holding meetings, communicating promptly with office colleagues, and completing the review tasks required of this position.
Preferred Qualifications: Education: Master's Degree Certified IRB Professional (CIP) Certification Experience working in a human research protections office
