Vandalia Health seeks a dynamic physician leader to serve as its Chief Medical Officer (CMO) for Vandalia Health Network, the organization's clinically integrated network (CIN).
Vandalia Health was formed in September 2022 through the combination of CAMC Health System and Mon Health System. Continuing this growth, several hospitals and another system, Davis Health, have also been added. With this extensive network of hospitals, providers, outpatient locations, and telemedicine centers, Vandalia Health is providing care across West Virginia, with additional locations in Pennsylvania, Maryland, and Virginia. With value-based arrangements with both government and commercial payers, Vandalia Health Network is estimated to have more than 125,000 covered lives and be comprised of over 2,200 providers and 24 hospitals.
Vandalia Health Network's CMO will be a change agent who is able to adapt to a highly dynamic environment and look at problems and solutions from a creative standpoint. This executive will lead the organization's drive to ensure that all services provided across the continuum of care are of high quality and value, improve clinician alignment and satisfaction, and lead evidence-based programs, practices, and activities.
The CMO must have up-to-date knowledge of key strategic initiatives that further the mission of excellent healthcare organizations and a proven record of successfully pursuing them. The CMO should also possess strong executive leadership and effective administrative skills.
Candidates must have a minimum of five (5) years of progressive experience in clinical practice, including a background in quality management, performance improvement, value-based risk strategies, and care redesign across the continuum. Progressive leadership experience, including experience in clinical integration, performance improvement, and population health management with superb communication skills, is required. Previous experience in an integrated delivery system that has successfully managed risk across Medicare, Medicare Advantage, Medicaid, and Commercial products is preferred. Experience in bundles (procedure and chronic condition) and direct-to-employer strategies is desirable.
This opportunity is best suited for an inclusive physician executive with outstanding interpersonal skills who empowers, motivates, and challenges staff while holding them accountable. A politically astute individual who understands cultural, operational, and motivational differences between employed and independent physician practices and an integrated hospital system with local and national perspectives is crucial. Vandalia Health Network seeks a team player with an open and non-competitive leadership style that promotes partnerships and builds trust and strong relationships.

Important Information for CPHQ Recertification
The recertification process has been streamlined. Unlike previous years, you don’t need to list out your CE activities at the time of completing your application. Instead, you will be asked to attest to having met the requirements, further aligning with the honor-based system of recertification. In the event that your application is randomly selected for audit, you may be required to list your CE activities and submit supporting documentation.
While you may participate in NAHQ learning opportunities (Learning Labs, JHQ articles, etc.), you can only claim CE credit once for each activity. Therefore, if you’ve previously earned CE from a NAHQ learning opportunity, you can’t claim it again, nor will you see the repeat CE appear in your “My Learning tab. This includes activities used in previous recertification cycles.
Remember, if you’re recertifying during the grace period (1/1/24-1/31/24), you already had to earn your CE hours by Dec 31, 2023.

*In the event of an audit, CPHQs may need to list activities and upload documentation in their NAHQ account.
