Job Summary

Responsible for the strategic development and management of areas such as security, emergency preparedness, telecommunications, and valet services for an assigned medical center and associated facilities. Ensures compliance with regulatory requirements, aligns security initiatives with institutional goals, and implements risk mitigation strategies to protect patients, visitors, staff, and assets. Foster collaboration with internal stakeholders and external law enforcement agencies to enhance the safety and security of all facilities.

Primary Responsibilities

* Develop and lead a comprehensive security and emergency preparedness strategy that aligns with the mission, vision, and values of the University of Maryland Medical System (UMMS).

* Serve as the primary liaison with local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies, ensuring effective coordination of security and emergency preparedness efforts.

* Provide security training and certification programs in compliance with Maryland State legislation, including Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) and Guard Card training.

* Ensure adherence to all regulatory compliance requirements, including CMS, Joint Commission, OSHA, NFPA, IAHSS, and ASIS, while implementing risk management protocols.

* Oversee access control measures, including ID badging, keying systems, and security infrastructure to ensure patient, employee, and visitor safety.

* Develop and manage operating and capital budgets for security, emergency preparedness, and parking services, identifying opportunities for process improvements and cost efficiencies.

JOB DESCRIPTION

* Continuously assess the effectiveness of security, emergency preparedness, telecommunications, and parking programs through performance metrics, financial results, and customer feedback.

* Conduct investigatory services related to criminal activity and workplace violence incidents in collaboration with Human Resources, Risk Management, Legal and law enforcement agencies.

* Perform environmental and security risk assessments, developing response plans to mitigate identified threats.

* Implement and maintain security technology, including surveillance systems, access control platforms, and alarm systems to enhance safety measures.

* Perform other duties as assigned
