The Compliance Director of Ethics and Integrity is a key leadership position responsible for advancing a culture of ethics, integrity, and compliance across the WMC Health Network. Reporting directly to the Vice President, Deputy Chief Compliance Officer (Deputy CCO), the Director collaborates closely with them to lead and operationalize systemwide compliance initiatives that promote transparency, accountability, and adherence to all applicable laws, regulations, and ethical standards. This role provides leadership and strategic direction for the Ethics and Integrity Program, oversees compliance investigations, auditing, and monitoring, and manages compliance leadership at regional facilities. The Director ensures consistent implementation of compliance standards across hospitals, physician practices, and affiliates while partnering with executive, clinical, and operational leaders to mitigate risk and strengthen organizational integrity. In partnership with the Director of Privacy Programs, the Compliance Director also plays an essential role in ensuring that the Privacy Program is effectively implemented and maintained across all entities within the network, ensuring alignment of compliance and privacy functions while preserving distinct program responsibilities.

Responsibilities:

• Collaborate with the VP, Deputy Chief Compliance Officer to develop, execute, and evaluate the enterprise-wide Compliance and Ethics Strategic Plan and ensure it aligns with the organizational mission and Compliance Program Charter.
• Serve as a strategic partner and advisor to the Deputy CCO in implementing enterprise initiatives, supporting governance structures, and strengthening compliance maturity across all WMC entities.
• Represent the Deputy CCO in leadership meetings, workgroups, and compliance committee activities when delegated.
• Partner with the Deputy CCO in preparing compliance program reports, dashboards, and materials for executive and board-level review.
• Work jointly to promote an integrated approach to ethics and compliance, ensuring consistent messaging, policy alignment, and oversight throughout the system.

• Provide direct oversight, guidance, and leadership to Regional Compliance Managers and site-based compliance staff across the network hospitals.
• Ensure that regional compliance operations are aligned with the system's Ethics and Integrity Program, policies, and performance expectations.
• Support regional teams in developing and executing local compliance work plans, monitoring activities, and staff education consistent with enterprise objectives.
• Establish regular communication channels and leadership forums for regional compliance leaders to share best practices, risk findings, and program progress.
• Evaluate the effectiveness of regional compliance programs and provide mentoring and performance oversight to ensure accountability and professional growth.

• Partner closely with the Director of Privacy Programs to ensure the Privacy Program is operational and effectively implemented across all hospitals and affiliated entities within the WMC Health Network.
• Coordinate on joint initiatives involving privacy and compliance intersections (e.g., investigations, training, audits) to ensure consistent application of regulatory standards and risk mitigation.
• Collaborate in developing and distributing system-wide privacy and compliance education materials, integrating privacy principles into compliance training where appropriate.
• Participate in periodic privacy risk assessments and work with facility leadership to ensure appropriate privacy controls, breach prevention measures, and compliance with HIPAA and state privacy laws.
• Support the Director of Privacy Programs in ensuring each regional hospital has designated privacy representation and mechanisms for issue escalation and resolution.

• Oversee the design, coordination, and execution of systemwide compliance audits and monitoring activities to evaluate adherence to policies, procedures, and regulatory standards.
• Lead and manage investigations into allegations of misconduct, fraud, waste, abuse, and ethical violations in accordance with established protocols.
• Partner with the Deputy CCO, Legal, and HR to ensure timely, objective, and well-documented resolution of compliance and ethics matters.
• Analyze investigation outcomes to identify root causes, recurring trends, and systemic risk areas, and implement corrective action plans as needed.
• Maintain ongoing oversight of network-wide corrective action implementation and report on progress to the Deputy CCO and executive leadership.

• Develop and deliver robust ethics and compliance training programs tailored to workforce roles and responsibilities, including leadership, clinical, and non-clinical staff.
• Collaborate with the Deputy CCO and regional compliance leaders to integrate compliance education into onboarding, annual training, and leadership development.
• Champion an ethical culture that encourages reporting of concerns without fear of retaliation, reinforces organizational values, and promotes trust in the compliance function.
• Partner with Corporate Communications and HR to promote awareness of compliance policies, the Code of Conduct, and organizational expectations.

• Monitor regulatory developments, emerging enforcement trends, and legislative changes impacting the health system.
• Collaborate with the Deputy CCO to evaluate regulatory updates and communicate implications to leadership and compliance staff.
• Support and coordinate responses to external audits, inquiries, and investigations by federal and state agencies.
• Develop and oversee mitigation strategies for identified compliance risks, ensuring sustainable corrective actions and measurable outcomes.
• Assist in the development of compliance dashboards and risk heatmaps to provide leadership visibility into program performance and areas of focus.

• Participate in the development and facilitation of the Executive Compliance Committee and other governance forums.
• Assist in preparing comprehensive compliance and ethics reports for the Board Audit and Compliance Committee.
• Contributes to the evaluation of the program's effectiveness using established metrics, including OMIG self-assessment and OIG framework benchmarks.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives across the compliance network, leveraging data analytics, audit outcomes, and lessons learned to strengthen program integrity.

Experience:

• 7 years of experience in compliance or regulatory management in a large healthcare facility, required

Education:

• Bachelor's degree in business, Accounting, Finance, Healthcare Administration, or a related field, required.
• Master's degree in business, Accounting, Finance, Healthcare Administration, or a related field, preferred.

Licenses / Certifications:

• Certified in Healthcare Privacy Compliance (CHPC) and Certified in Healthcare Compliance (CHC), required.
